Sage V Foods is looking for a few additional growers that are interested in growing high quality organic medium grain rice for our company starting in 2010. 

We are looking for growers that are willing to make a long term commitment to growing organic rice. We are committed to paying a price that makes such a long term commitment worthwhile for our growers.

I have over 25 years of experience in the rice business and started Sage V Foods in 1992 to specialize in processing rice into value added products that we market domestically. Our company primarily processes conventional rice, but we have been buying organic rice in California directly from rice producers for over 10 years. We have a drying and storage operation in Northern California exclusively for organic rice, that utilizes commercial chillers to maintain quality, and we have an office in Princeton.

In the United States, Sage V Foods is the largest rice flour miller, the largest manufacturer of crisp rice, and the largest manufacturer of frozen rice. We are also a significant manufacturer of instant rice. We operate a flour mill in Freeport, Texas. We built a new flour mill and extrusion plant in Stuttgart, Arkansas in 2006. In July of 2009, we completed construction of a new state of the art cooking and freezing plant in Little Rock, Arkansas.

We use organic rice to make rice flour and sometimes crisp rice, but our primary usage is for frozen rice. We use organic medium grain from California for our frozen rice for the retail market because we like the quality of that product. We pack 3 10 oz pouches of organic brown rice in a carton that is sold nationwide in the retail markets. The pouches are ready to eat after 3 minutes in a microwave and the quality is better than home cooked. You can find our “Rice Expressions” brand in Raley’s and Whole Foods. We also pack private label brands for two other important national grocery chains that have a presence in your area. (If you find 3 frozen pouches in a carton, then the product is ours.) These products are selling very well and our business is growing despite the economic downturn.
